Lieutenant Colonel Carla C. Lugo

Lt. Col. Carla C. Lugo is the commander of the 44th Aerial Port Squadron, 624th Regional Support Group, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The 44th APS deploys qualified personnel to provide air terminal operations worldwide in support of contingency operations, exercises, unit moves, and foreign humanitarian relief or disaster operations. The squadron is the largest APS in the Air Force Reserve Command. The 44th APS provides expertise in all areas of air terminal operations to include aircraft loading, cargo processing and inspecting, passenger services, aircraft fleet services and aerial port command and control.

Lt. Col. Lugo enlisted into the Air Force as a dental technician in 1995 and was stationed at Nellis AFB, Nev. In 1997 Lt. Col. Lugo left active duty and joined the Army National Guard as a transportation operator where she served as an Army specialist. This provided an opportunity for her to pursue her commission. She was accepted into the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Ariz., and received her Air Force commission in 2000. She served on active duty as a services officer for five years before joining the Air Force Reserve in 2005. During her career, Lt. Col. Lugo deployed seven times worldwide supporting multiple operations to include OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and most recently in support of U.S. Central Command operations as a strategy action officer.

Prior to her current position, Lt. Col. Lugo was the logistics readiness officer at the 944th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 944th Fighter Wing, Luke AFB, Ariz. In her civilian career, she is a nurse at Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff, Ariz.
