Athanasia Shinas, commander of the 624th Regional Support Group based at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, stands in front of the bullet- and shrapnel-marked Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) building holding a photo of her grandfather, Private Ralph Yeager. Yeager was stationed on Oahu when Pearl Harbor and Hickam Field were attacked on Dec. 7, 1941. He survived the attack and went on to fight in World War II.
