A Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) recertification for 624th Regional Support Group reservists currently receiving with-dependent rate BAH began here March 1, and is scheduled to be completed by December 2014.

Senior Master Sgt. Jasen Holguin, personnel superintendent with the 624th RSG, said a recent Department of Defense-wide audit found discrepancies in the BAH recertification process. As a result, the Air Force Accounting and Finance Office (AFAFO) established a requirement for a one-time BAH recertification for all Airmen receiving the dependent rate, he said.

"As good stewards of our resources we need to make sure our unit members are getting paid the correct entitlements," Holguin said. He said that any Airman not meeting the December deadline would have their BAH reduced to a without-dependent rate.

In addition, the commander of the 624th RSG, Col. Maynard "Max" Mendoza, said that any 624th RSG reservists who don't recertify by the deadline would not be permitted to sign in for the unit training assembly (UTA).

Master Sgt. Maria Tailo, chief of personnel employment with the 624th RSG, said that members should bring all original documentation (marriage certificate, divorce decree, birth certificate, or Defense Finance and Account Service dependency determination) to her office in Building 4100 to complete Air Force Form 594, which would then be reviewed and forwarded to the 452nd Force Support Squadron, March Air Force Base, California, for final processing by an authorized certifier.

Deployed or temporary duty (TDY) members should notify the personnel office at their current location and work with them to get AF Form 594 completed. For questions, unit members can call 488-3820/3825.
